I didn’t really work on the Body of the car until after the chassis was complete. Trying to do a job like this in a single garage isn’t easy at all, so after the initial strip down everything that was in the body when I removed it from the chassis went away to storage.
After I brought it back and went about the task of stripping the paint back to the gel coat .I had only stripped the bonnet, boot and two doors when I new that this was going to be the worst job to achieve, more in a timescale thing than just being pissed of stripping 4 layers of paint off. I new that in it’s previous life it had taken part in the occasional Hill Climb and found a couple of walls to help stop it, so when I found out that the boot had been split through the middle where it had took the trip over the top of the roof and the bonnet was nothing but star grazing everywhere. I knew that the body was going to be so much worse.
Finding all this out I came to the decision to purchase a new shell, bonnet and boot. I decided to keep the doors in order to try and keep costs down as they weren’t too bad but they have ended up being the biggest headache ever.
Anyway all has taken shape now and you quickly forget the grief when all is completed.
