Chassis
The Chassis was in quite good condition and only a few parts at the front were starting to rust between the layers of sheet metal. Only because I had stripped the car down so far that I decided to carry out repairs.
The chassis was bead blasted and all bad parts cut out. Making the new parts wasn’t too much trouble and having the bonus of being a Mechanical fitter in a Large Oil Company helped in the making and refurbishing of a lot of pieces of equipment. Mostly being able to utilize my spare time to such a worthy project, not that I would ever use the companies time for my own personal gain. After all the welding was finished I had the whole Chassis powder coated along with everything else that I was never wanting to look at again.
Engine was just a clean up job as it had been overhauled about 10,000 miles before hand and was actually running quite good. Apart from an Engine flush and New oil it was ready to go.
The suspension was in need of New Shocks, which it got. Unfortunately due to a long period of time from the chassis being complete and the body being fitted to it. I had not realized that the front end of the car was sitting way too high. Being supplied with S1 shock absorbers by mistake caused this. No refund their. Once I had purchased new S2 shocks all was well.
Wheels were bead blasted, powder coated and new tyres fitted .New wheel centers and wheel nuts to finish it off.
I managed to get my original exhaust from my Triumph Daytona T595 to fit with a small amount of work on the down pipes.
You start to forget really early how much money starts to accumulate even when you are doing everything yourself. Brake shoes, disc pads, hose clips, new alternator, battery, bushes, spark plugs, brake pipes and even nuts and bolts. All reasonably priced items but when it’s an ongoing expense list they certainly mount up and you can’t do without them.
